Oak Ridge, NJ – December 29, 2021 – Lakeland Bank is pleased to announce that it recently awarded a $ 10,000 Community Impact Grant to Sussex County Community College (SCCC) to help support the new Power Lineman Program.

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Technical Studies Track recognizes work and experience while helping individuals prepare for career advancement or change. The program is designed to provide skills for personal, professional and community improvement and is highly individualized and flexible. Technical study credits can be earned for business, industrial, or military training programs, and graduates receive an associate degree in applied science upon successful completion of the program. The Power Lineman Program is uniquely designed to meet the demand for trained power linemen and students will gain skills to work for utility companies, electrical contractors, telecommunications companies, and local agencies / states.
The objectives of the Technical Career Program at SCCC are:
Formulate an educational plan designed to achieve a personal / professional goal.
Demonstrate an attitude of responsibility towards oneself, the employer and the community.
Advance in the career, building on the skills and competences already acquired
Display increased technical knowledge and skills.
Demonstrate the comprehensive mathematical, scientific, social and psychological skills necessary for personal career growth.
Present technical information in effective oral, written and technical form.

The objective of the Bank’s Community Impact Grants program is to invest directly in eligible non-profit organizations whose main mission is to provide services that have an impact on the environment, social welfare, physical and / or mental of individuals, families and communities within the Bank’s Assessment Areas. The program is non-competitive and without public solicitation for nominations. Potential recipients and their programs are proposed for consideration for a grant based on an internal nomination process designed specifically for this program.
